Environmental Policy

vintage and antiques sustainable practices

All commerce has some impact on the environment

By choosing vintage china or antique china glass and other items we offer, the main environmental cost of production and firing is pre-paid decades or even centuries ago.

We believe that reusing and repurposing these beautiful pieces of china is not only a responsible and sustainable practice, but also adds character and charm to any home.

We have also taken the additional steps to reduce our environmental impact during storage and delivery of the pieces you buy from us.

Reusing packaging

The only part of the packaging we use which is new is the parcel tape and labels used to seal and send our boxes. Everything else is re-used including bubble wrap, newspaper and box cartons. All have had a previous life and would otherwise be going for recycling or incineration.

We understand that shipping fragile items such as vintage and antique china requires protective packaging, but we ensure that the packaging we use is as environmentally friendly as it can be, mainly paper in multiple crumpled layers to trap air and provide cushioned support in transit. and most of it can be easily reused or recycled.

Our packaging is designed to protect the items during transit. By reusing packaging materials from other companies, we can significantly reduce their waste and contribute to a sustainable future. We believe that every effort counts, no matter how small it may seem, and we are committed to doing our part to protect the environment. We understand that many companies use excessive packaging materials, which can contribute to waste and harm the environment. By reusing packaging materials from other companies, we can reduce waste and promote a circular economy. This not only reduces waste but also minimises the resources required to produce new packaging materials. This practice of reusing wherever possible is consistent with our commitment to sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.

What sort of packaging do you reuse?

We carefully inspect the packaging materials we receive from other companies and reuse those that meet our requirements . For example, we may reuse cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper and packing materials from other companies that are still in good condition, and can be repurposed for shipping our vintage and antique china. As well as helping the environment, our policy to reuse packaging materials from other companies also saves us money on packaging materials. We then pass this cost saving onto our customers, and is just one of the many ways we are committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainability in our operations. We believe that every effort counts and are always looking for new ways to minimise our environmental impact.

Energy efficiency:

We don't heat our storage areas and light them with energy efficiency low-wattage LED lighting.

Waste reduction:

We are committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling by minimizing paper usage, and encouraging customers to recycle packaging materials where possible.

Transportation

We are committed to reducing our transportation emissions by minimising deliveries and shipments to once daily.

Education and awareness:

We have trained our staff to reduce energy use wherever possible. We will also regularly review our environmental policy and seek to continuously improve our sustainability efforts.

In summary, we are committed to doing our bit for the environment, now and in the furture. We think vintage and antique items sit well with a consumers desire to not damage the environment further. Our efforts towards sustainability are not just about reducing waste but also ensuring that we preserve the beauty of vintage and antique items for future generations.
